  1. I would like to do this in a sc, so that means that row 1 is done and then row 2 is read backwards and then row 3 is read normally and then 4 is backwards and do one?

      • If I add 1 extra chain for sc will I then have 188 stitches, if so how do you add it into the number of stitches? I’m on row 20 and having difficulty because the red stitches are not lining up and I have 187 stitches.

      • The added chain is for your turning chain, it doesn’t get worked into the pattern counts.

      • Yes I finally figured it out. Nice pattern. My grandson will love it. Might take me a while to finish it. Thank you for your responses. Greatly appreciate it knowing you are always willing to help.

  2. Hello, the extra chains you speak of ( 1 f or single and 2for HD.,) How do I count them in the pattern? I’m a experienced crocheter, and your patterns are brilliant.

    • The extra chains don’t get added to the counts in the pattern, they’re added at the beginning of each row so your edges end up the way they’re supposed to. If you didn’t add them, your edges may not end up straight and your blanket May looked squished along the edges and not lay flat.

  3. Hello ,when you say add 1extra st. at beginning for single and 2extra for half does that mean chain two for single and three for hdc .

  4. Well I see my microphone messed up a few of my words up there and I forgot to proofread it oops!! I think you understand my question though……. :-\ in addition, why the differentiation of single crochet or half double crochet? What stitch did you use? It looks like single crochet? I just love this pattern and it will be my first project of any great size. I normally don’t have the patience but my fingers are itching for a new project!

    • The choice of SC or HDC is really preferential. I did mine in SC. If I did it in HDC it would just be a little taller. My Pilot Blanket is done in HDC if you wanted to compare the two different stitches in a picture blanket.

  5. I am curious about the instructions where you saying if you use an SC or an HDC that every second roll should be read backwards. That’s a little confusing why would you do that? Can you help me understand this please? Thank you in advance!! ^_^

    • It’s written for Tunisian Crochet where there’s no turning involved, so if you work in sc or hdc, there’s turning involved and it’s compensated for in the pattern by working every second row backwards. If you didn’t work it backwards and just work it as written, your colors wouldn’t line up and your picture wouldn’t turn out. Hope that helps!
