It’s Finished Friday again and I managed to complete a project I started back on February 22nd of this year! This was supposed to be a relatively quick project, but I get project sidetracked A LOT!
Tada! This is Eldfell. She is a beautiful pullover knit in bulky weight yarn. The original pattern calls for Knit Picks Wonderfluff (which makes sense because it’s a Knit Picks Pattern), but I used Red Heart Soft Essentials. Four reasons why I used the Soft Essentials yarn over the Wonderfluff:
1. I already had some on hand from when I bought it when it was on sale.
2. It’s $5.99 for 131 yards vs $8.49 for 142 yards (the yardage to cost ratio makes a difference when you’re a family of 5 living on 1 income)! *thinking longingly* Someday I’ll be able to afford the expensive stuff.
3. It’s acrylic so it’s an easy wash!
4. It’s my favorite bulky yarn on the planet, so far.
It took me less than 6 balls to complete the 39″ version.
I used the needles called for in the pattern and did the magic loop method instead of using DPNs. Other than that, I did it as written and it turned out fantastic!
If you haven’t done fairisle before, I highly recommend it! It’s so much fun and the final result is always fantastic! As for my Christmas list, I can cross gift #1 off!
Until next time,
