Himalayan Salt

I’m so excited to release my first pattern of 2019! This pattern has no rhyme or reason as to why I created it, I just felt like making a small shawl and I’m so pleased with the way it came out; both the front and the back!

Himalayan Salt

Materials:

  • 1 Cake of Yarn Bee Dee-Lish (or approximately 505 yards of your favorite DK weight yarn)
  • I/9-5.5mm Hook
  • Scissors
  • Needle

Size: Wingspan 44”, Depth 21”

Gauge: 16 rows x 16 sts in hdc

Special Stitches:

  • Cluster: (yo, insert hook into indicated st, yo, pull up a loop)4 times, yo, pull through all loops.

Set up: Ch 3, Sl st into first ch to form a loop.

  • Row 1: Ch 2 (does not count as a st here and throughout), (5hdc, ch 2, 5hdc)in center of loop, turn. (5 sts across each side)
  • Row 2: Ch 2, working in 3rd loop only, 2hdc in first st, hdc in each st along side, (hdc, ch 2, hdc)in ch-2 space, working in 3rd loop only, hdc in each st along other side putting 2hdc in last st, turn. (7 sts across each side)
  • Row 3: Ch 1, (sc, cluster)in first st, *sc in next st, cluster in next st**, Repeat from *to** across side, (sc, ch 2, sc)in ch-2 space, ***cluster in next st, sc in next st,**** Repeat from ***to**** along side to last st, (cluster, sc)in last st, turn. (9 sts across each side)
  • Row 4: Ch 1, 2sc in first st, sc in each stitch along side, (sc, ch 2, sc)in ch-2 space, sc in each st across side to last st, 2sc in last st, turn. (11 sts across each side)
  • Row 5: Ch 2, 2hdc in first st, hdc in each st across, (hdc, ch 2, hdc)in ch-2 space, hdc in each st across to last stitch, 2hdc in last st, turn. (13 sts across each side)
  • Row 6: Repeat Row 2. (15 sts across each side)
  • Row 7: Ch 2, 2sc in first st, (skip next st, 3dc in next st, skip next st, sc in next st)repeat across to last 2 sts, sc in each st, (sc, ch 2, sc)in ch-2 space, sc in next 2 sts, (sc in next st, skip next st, 3dc in next st, skip next st)across to last st, 2sc in last st, turn. (17 sts across each side)
  • Row 8: Ch 2, 2hdc in first st, hdc in next st, (bpdc in next 3 sts, hdc in next st)across side, hdc in next 3 sts, (hdc, ch 2, hdc)in ch-2 space, hdc in next 3 sts, (hdc in next st, bpdc in next 3 sts)across side, hdc in next st, 2hdc in last st, turn. (19 sts across each side)
  • Row 9: Ch 2, 2hdc in first st, hdc in each st across side, (hdc, ch 2, hdc)in ch-2 space, hdc in each st across side, 2hdc in last st, turn. (21 sts across each side)

Repeat Row 2-9, ending on a Row 7, until you have 113 sts on each side.

Border: Ch 1, *Sl st in each st until you reach the center of 3dc Shell, ch 3, Sl st into 3rd chain from hook (picot created), Sl st in center st of shell again,** Repeat from *to** around entire Shawl edge making sure to put a picot in ch-2 space.

Easy peasy and,once you get it down, it makes for good tv crocheting!
